Jatoba Hardwood Decking

Jatoba hardwood comes from South America. Jatoba, like Teak is a strong, dense and heavier wood. This exotic hardwood is similar in appearance to teak and has a golden brown color.  This wood is ideal for decks, outdoor furniture and other outside projects as it is highly resistant to decay and termites. Due to its beautiful color, it is often used interior as well as exterior. It is recommended to pre-drill all holes on this decking due to its density.

Additional Information

These decking boards are eased edge. Decking boards come in random lengths. Please inquire at counter regarding lengths available.

Stocked sizes:
5/4x6 (actual 1” x 5-1/2”) in random lengths

This wood is not as easy to stain, saw and nail due to its density. It is recommended to use Anchorseal ® on the exposed ends to prevent ends from checking during drying when used exterior.

Although this is a very dense wood, it can rot over time, especially in certain conditions like very shaded areas or on the northern side of houses where the boards have longer periods of dampness. It is recommended to seal top, bottom, edges and slots before installation – using one of the accepted deck sealers for hardwood decks such as Cabot’s Aussie Timber Oil, or others. resealing / staining after installation is a good idea for the top and edges every 18 to 24 months.

Red Cumaru Hardwood Decking

Our Red Cumaru Hardwood comes from South America. Cumaru, like Ipe, is a very strong, dense and heavy wood. This exotic hardwood has a rich dark reddish brown color. This wood is ideal for decks and outside projects as it is highly resistant to decay and termites. Due to its beautiful color, it is often used interior as well as exterior. This wood is not as easy to stain, saw and nail due to its density.

WR Cedar, EE Decking

Western Red Cedar is a softwood known for its stability, straight grain and durability in exterior climates. This lumber is naturally resistant to rot and decay without any treatment. Western Red Cedar is normally reddish-brown in color. This wood ages to a natural silver-gray color when left unfinished outdoors. Western Red Cedar is very popular to use in exterior projects like decks, garden beds, arbors, fences, shingles, and siding to name just a few. This wood is sometimes favored over treated yellow pine for exterior projects due to it being lighter and more stable.

Additional Information

This style Cedar board is often used for decking and fencing, among other exterior projects. Boards are eased-edged, kiln-dried and a decking grade allowing for tight knots. This material is sold by the board only.
Quantity discount tier pricing is available on all orders over 50, 100 and 500 boards.

IPE Decking

Ipe hardwood comes from South America. Ipe is a very strong, dense and heavy wood. This exotic hardwood has a golden brown to dark brownish red color. This wood is ideal for decks and outside projects as it is highly resistant to decay and termites. Due to its beautiful color, it is often used interior as well as exterior.

Although this is a very dense wood, it can rot over time, especially in certain conditions. The slotted decking boards are more likely to trap moisture in slotted areas on boards which could lead to rot over time, especially when used in very shaded areas or on the northern side of houses where the boards have longer periods of dampness. It is recommended to seal top, bottom, edges and slots before installation – using one of the accepted deck sealers for hardwood decks such as Cabot’s Australian Timber Oil, or others. While sealing / staining after installation is a good idea for the top and edges, it may not do much to protect the grooves. It is recommended to restain / seal your deck every 18 to 24 months with an exterior grade product for hardwoods.

We also have 3/8” wood plugs available in Ipe.

Premium Re-dried YPT EE Decking

Yellow Pine Treated is known for being an economical choice that holds up very well to the exterior elements. Yellow pine treated boards are ideal for exterior projects like playground equipment, decking, fencing, exterior furniture and rose arbors to name just a few. Our treated boards come from Cox Industries and are treated with Wolman® disbursed copper azole. This is a non-arsenic treatment that protects against both termites and fungal decay.

Additional Information

The Premium re-dried decking are for customers wanting the very best. The Premium grade is typically free of knots or an occasional pin knot on one face with occasional small knots on the other face and sometimes edges. These boards are eased edged for rounded edges and are ideal for decking and fencing.

Our Decking boards are above-ground treated, meant to be used above ground and has less treatment than a ground contact boards.

These boards are re-dried after being treated, KDAT – Kiln Dried After Treatment. This step to re-dry the boards after treatment:

     - Helps reduce cupping, twisting and warping by allowing the boards to dry and ultimately shrink in a controlled environment
     - No delay before staining or coating as the wood can be painted or coated immediately without waiting since it is already dry.
     - Greater nail and fastener holding power as the dry treated process allows the boards to hold tighter and stay tighter.
     - Cleaner and lighter in weight since the drying process eliminates the moisture thus reducing the weight of the boards, making them lighter and easier to handle.
     - Environmentally sound as the re-drying assures immediate and maximum preservation fixation within the wood, providing a safer, cleaner and environmentally sound product.

Stocked sizes:
5/4x6 (actual 1” x 5-1/2”) in 8’, 10’, 12’, 14, and 16’ lengths
(18’ and 20’ boards are available as a special order)
