Makore, also known as African Cherry, is grown in West Africa. The color varies from pink to a blood red. Although it is usually straight grained, Makore can be figured or have a water-silk pattern. It is a hardwood used for furniture, boat building and marine plywood.
This wood is not recommended for butcher blocks or food contact areas and use caution when woodworking with this hardwood.
