DuraFlex moulding is perfect for curved surfaces that traditional wood mouldings have a hard time fitting into. Unlike wood it is insect proof, moisture proof, and can withstand extreme heat and cold without warping, cracking or deteriorating.
Uses and Recommendations of Flexible Mouldings:
- – When staining DuraFlex moulding, it is recommended to use a heavily pigmented, water-based stain to enhance the wood-like appearance. Applying additional coats can help achieve a more authentic wood aesthetic.
- – It’s important to note that when DuraFlex moulding is sanded, the wood grain appears only on the surface and may come off or flatten during sanding.
- – When painting, primer coats are not recommended (Unless using Alkyd Enamels, which an exterior primer is required).
- – Do not paint before installation as the moulding is flexible and may cause the paint to crack as it bends.
- – DuraFlex moulding, like many thermoplastic materials, becomes more flexible and easier to bend as it warms up. Heating the material reduces its stiffness, allowing for easier shaping and bending without cracking or breaking.
