BC Graded Fire-Retardant Plywood

BC Graded Fire-Retardant Plywood is the ideal choice when a high-quality plywood with one good face is needed for fire safety in interior applications. Chemically pressure-treated to limit flame spread and smoke generation, this plywood meets all building code requirements with a sturdy 3/4″ thickness. Manufactured by Pro-Wood or PyroGuard, it features a 30-minute flame-spread rating and is kiln-dried to restore its strength and stiffness.

This plywood is perfect for installations requiring a clear plywood face, such as telephone equipment boards. For optimal performance, it should only be used in dry, indoor environments and should not be exposed to moisture or weather.

Available in full 4×8 sheets, BC Graded Fire-Retardant Plywood combines safety with quality craftsmanship.

Additional Information

When considering the use of fire-retardant plywood in construction or renovation projects, it’s essential to understand its properties and proper handling techniques.

  1. Finish Compatibility: Fire-retardant plywood can be finished with paint or stain, similar to untreated wood. However, consider the flammability of the finish used.
  2. Moisture Protection: This type of plywood is designed for interior use only and should be protected from moisture, precipitation, and regular condensation to maintain its effectiveness.
  3. Corrosion and Hygroscopic Properties: Fire-retardant plywood exhibits low corrosivity and low hygroscopicity, meaning it does not absorb moisture easily.
  4. Hardware Recommendations: Galvanized steel hardware is recommended to prevent corrosion, but it’s noted that the fire treatment does not significantly affect the corrosion of untreated steel.
  5. Permissible Modifications: Cutting, drilling, and light sanding are acceptable modifications. There’s no need to treat the cut ends to maintain the flame spread rating.
