Our History
Capitol City Lumber Company was incorporated in 1945, but due to World War II was not started until April 1, 1947.
After World War II, our founder, James Anglin Nicholson, started the company with one empty building, a two ton truck and a single load of plywood. During those days when materials were hard to find, he established his place in the community by offering quality lumber and building materials at a fair price.
Although the company has grown, we strive every day to live up to our founder’s original mission of quality, service and dependability. Today, we’re the lumber company Raleigh relies on for products and service that stand the test of time.
Cash Accounts
In order to serve our customers better we offer cash accounts to automate customer discounts and for customers who have a sales tax exempt status. Customers pay for their purchases by using cash, credit card, or check when products are picked up or delivered. Along with cash and in-state checks, we accept Visa, MasterCard, American Express and Discover credit cards. Please contact us at 800-244-6492 regarding setting up a cash account or visit the sales counter at the store.
Blue Tarp Accounts
In order to serve our customers better we offer a Commercial Credit charge account through Blue Tarp. Blue Tarp helps contractors and interior designers keep track of jobs and invoices on-line. This is an excellent choice for the small Remodeling Contractor.
