GRADES OF PLYWOOD:
- 1/4” plywood is a good one side B4 grade. This grade of plywood is characterized by having good quality on at least one side, meaning it typically features a smooth, attractive surface suitable for visible applications. The other side may have some imperfections or minor defects, but overall, the panel is strong and durable. This grade is often used in cabinetry, furniture, and decorative applications where one side is visible and the other side can be concealed or less visible. It provides a good balance of quality and cost.
- 1/2” and 3/4″ plywood is a good two sides B2 grade. The B-2 cabinet plywood grade is a high-quality yet cost-effective option used for cabinetry and interior applications. It features a smooth face veneer with minimal surface defects, making it suitable for visible surfaces that require a good finish. The “B” grade indicates a face veneer with tight, even grain and minor repairs or patches, ensuring an attractive appearance. The “2” grade for the back veneer allows for more defects such as knots or patches but still maintains overall strength and durability. This combination makes B-2 plywood an ideal and more economical choice for cabinet doors and interior furnishings where both aesthetic quality and structural integrity are important.
